Zizek Urban Beats Club – North American Tour, Spring 2008
Zizek is a new club from Buenos Aires, Argentina dedicated to the emerging sounds of Hip Hop, Dancehall, Reggaetón, Cumbia, Bastard Pop, Mashups, and more.
From the beginning, Zizek has been a club where genres clash and cross over, making you dance, while still providing fresh and innovative sounds rarely heard before.
In March 2008 we will be in the USA for SXSW. Below are the artists we will be traveling with.

KING COYA & EL TRIP SELECTOR (Buenos Aires)
Gaby Kerpel originally comes from a theater background and wrote the music for “De la Guarda” a groundbreaking live theater performance that gained worldwide fame. More recently, he worked on “Fuerzabruta”, an Argentine show that has opened in Lisbon and New York City as well. He has released an album on Nonesuch Records, remixed bands like Brazilian Girls, and has collaborated with Oscar-winning film score composer Gustavo Santaolalla. Over the past year he has developed a digital cumbia/reggaetón DJ set with Julián Gómez, also a composer of Fuerza Bruta, as King Coya & El Trip Selector that has performed extensively throughout Buenos Aires.

AXEL K SOUNDSYSTEM (Buenos Aires)
Classically-trained multi-instrumentalist Axel Krygier started playing flute at age 11 and never looked back. He is undoubtedly one of the most talented musicians in Buenos Aires; he plays over a dozen instruments and has collaborated with almost every major musician in the city. Live, his one-man show incorporates elements from jazz, folklore, reggaetón and cumbia.

TREMOR (Buenos Aires)
Multi-instrumentalist Leonardo Martinelli has been composing music for films for over 10 years, but a constant quest for new sounds led him to develop this project in 2002. With Tremor, he takes the traditional folkloric sounds of northern Argentina and adds glitchy percussive elements, from synthesized clicks and cuts to the sounds of every-day objects such as zippers and dot-matrix printers. This combination of traditional and modern results in an entirely unique sound.

FRIKSTAILERS (Córdoba, ARG)
The high-energy beats of Rafael Caivano and Lisandro Sona are meant strictly for the dancefloor. Their glitchy, hyper-active beats blend modern popular music with the finest the southern hemisphere has to offer: reggaetón, baile funk, cumbia, and dancehall. With several gigs in Europe lined up this fall and prominent reviews in international press, the future looks bright for these Córdoba natives.

EL REMOLÓN (Buenos Aires)
El Remolón mixes local electronic music with Latin American sounds by using the latest technology available. His hypnotic beats are influenced by various genres ranging from Colombian cumbia, cumbia villera (cumbia from the slums of Buenos Aires), and reggaetón to dub, idm, and minimal techno.

ORO11 (Buenos Aires & San Francisco)
Originally a hip-hop and dancehall DJ from the San Francisco area, Oro11 lived in Buenos Aires for close to 3 years, where he developed a taste for the rugged sound of cumbia villera. His own productions intensify and modernize this style through harder dancehall and Baltimore club beats and the addition of hip-hop and ragga vocals from well-known American and Jamaican artists. His tracks have earned him mentions in international music magazines such as XLR8R and Fader as well.
